Merlin G. Billeaud: A
Mass of Christian Burial was
held Thursday, Aug. 26, in La
Chapelle de Martin & Castille
in Lafayette for Mr. Billeaud,
80, who passed away peacefully
Monday, Aug. 23, at
Louisiana Extended Care Hospital
in Lafayette. Interment
was in Holy Mary Mother of
God Cemetery. Born in Scott
Aug. 26, 1929, he lived most of
his life in Lafayette. He graduated
from Southwestern
Louisiana Institute (now University
of Louisiana at
Lafayette) with a degree in accounting
and served his country
in the U.S. Army during the Korean
War. He was the co-owner
of Billeaud Water Well Drilling,
and with his wife, the former
Melba Dean Waguespack, coowned
Merlin Billeaud Sand
Company Inc. He was a longtime
member of the Board of
Directors of the American Discount
Corporation. Memorial
contributions may be made in
Mr. Billeaud’s name to the
charity of the donor’s choice.

Billy Ray Hopkins
Sr.: A Celebration of Life service
was held for Mr. Hopkins,
79, Saturday, Aug., 28, 2010, at
First Baptist Church of
Youngsville. A native of
Brownwood, Texas, and a longtime
resident of Youngsville,
Mr. Hopkins passed away Aug.
25, at his residence in
Youngsville. He trained many
oilfield personnel in directional
drilling before retiring as an independent
consultant. David

John ‘June’ Senegal
Jr.: Funeral services were held
Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at St.
Martin de Porres Catholic
Church in Scott for Mr. Senegal,
67, who was called home
by his Lord and Savior Sunday,
Aug. 22, at Our Lady of Lourdes
Hospital following a twoyear
battle with cancer.
Interment was in St. Martin de
Porres Cemetery in Scott. Born
Sept. 4, 1942, he was a native
of Cankton and lifelong resident
of Scott. He was a devoted
parishioner of St. Martin de
Porres Catholic Church. In his
early years, Mr. Senegal was a
farmer. He then went on to
work in grocery retail at National
Food Store for 16 years.
Following this, he went on to
work for Magnolia Reliable
Liquor as a truck driver for 17
years. Melancon Funeral Home
of Carencro was in charge of
arrangements.
Agnes Benoit Duhon:
A Mass of Christian Burial was
held Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at
St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Milton for Mrs. Duhon, 96. Entombment
was in St. Joseph
Catholic Mausoleum in Milton.
A native of Lafayette Parish and
a longtime resident of
Youngsville, Mrs. Duhon
passed away on Friday, Aug.
27, at her residence. David Funeral
Home of Lafayette was in
charge of all arrangements.

Broussard, 90, who passed
away peacefully Friday, Aug.
27, surrounded by her family.
Interment was in Lafayette Memorial
Park Cemetery. Born in
1920 in Youngsville, she lived
most of her life in Lafayette.
She and her husband Oren
owned and operated Bee’s Grocery
in the Saints Street neighborhood
of Lafayette.

of Broussard, who passed away

Born July 8, 1953, he was a native
of Lafayette and had made
his home in Broussard for the
