‘Louisiana Story’ and ‘Louisiana Story: The Reverse Angle’: 2 p.m., Art House, Downtown Lafayette. The Film@Center series presents two films, made decades apart, the original, ‘Louisiana Story,’ in 1948 by acclaimed quasi-documentarian Robert J. Flaherty; the second, ‘Louisiana Story: The Reverse Angle,’ is a look back at Flaherty’s film from the vantage point of 2009. Flaherty’s film told of the impact on a Cajun boy’s life on the bayou chances forever with the arrival of an oil derrick near his home. It was nominated for an Academy Award for writing and won the Venice Film Festival’s International Prize for its ‘lyrical beauty’ and the 1949 Pulitzer for music. ‘Reverse Angle’ brings together many of the people involved in making Flaherty’s movie and allows them to comment on his controversial — and last — film.
