Broussard Chamber of Commerce’s January meeting began with President Toby Armentor recapping the chambers roots which grew from the formation of the Broussard Business Leaders in 2005.

The Chamber’s purpose then and now remains in assisting the growth of Brossard businesses by networking, promoting community, hosting ribbon cuttings, being a visible presence and “doing something for the community,” Armentor said. “It’s about growth.”

The Chamber is also gearing up for the Fourth Le Bon Temp Festival to be held March 30-31 at Stine’s. Last year’s festival raised $70,000, with the cost of putting on the festival $42,000.

“This is a great achievement for Broussard,” Armentor said. “Revenues have exceeded $30,000.”

The festival committee needs sponsors and volunteers, he added, and should contact Kim Aspaugh at DJW Insurance. The lineup of Le Bon Temp entertainers include Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie, Jaime Bergeron, Kickin’ Cajuns and Saturday night headliner Wayne Toups. A 5K event is planned and possibly an arts and crafts section.

Board member elections were held at the luncheon with Armentor introducing the nominated candidates. All six candidates vying for board seats were accepted. The 2012 board members are Dawna Waterbury, LeTriomple Golf & Country Club general manager; Gertrude Boudreaux, vice–president of Community First Bank; Andy Merchant of Capital Consultants; Jason Guilbeau of the American Cancer Society; Jeremy Hidalgo of Met Life and Kevin Cook, UBS vice president of investments.
